Zalando offers e-Commerce in fourteen European countries. In Spain their Internet traffic is booming. An analyst writes: "Free delivery, free returns, 30-day returns guarantee and a free helpline. It´s the first time that I´ve visited an e-commerce which is selling in Spain with all this so confident and attractive claims calling to buy. ...  I think this marketing strategy is which the Spanish market was needing for to stimulate the e-commerce sales in a similar ratio to other European countries. Zalando is a clear, confident and direct “buy here my friend” online retailing without conditions and brakes to the purchase."

While the German consumers are optimistic the Spanish, Portuguese and Italian consumers are hit hard by the crisis. All European consumers look for cheap alternatives and e-Commerce is "the ideal instrument" to do so.

Claire, one of the world’s leading specialty retailers of jewelry, cosmetics and accessories at affordable prices for girls ages 3 to 27, has launched "a state-of-the-art e-commerce platform, providing international delivery capabilities to more than 180 countries worldwide, with the ability to purchase in Pounds Sterling or Euros." The platform also targets Europe. It rests on BT’s e-commerce platform.

EBay gives bleaker earnings forecast because of Europe

EBay forecasts "a second-quarter profit of 61 to 63 cents per share and revenue of $3.8 billion to $3.9 billion. Analysts were looking for 66 cents a share on revenue of $3.95 billion." The reason for the bleaker forecast is the poor outlook for the European economy.
